Vins del Silenci, the DO Montsant wines of the Agrícola d’Ulldemolins, presented Lo Carnisser, the first tribute wine in the collection El Llegat, at an event held on Friday 11 September in the Plaça del Loreto in Ulldemolins.
El Llegat is a collection of small-production wines made with great care and affection that sets out to celebrate the uniqueness of some of the area’s vineyards and to pay tribute to people whose hard work and dedication have helped make the Ulldemolins Cooperative’s wine project possible.
Lo Carnisser is not just a tribute to Miquel Toldrà, wine grower and fellow Cooperative member: in making this very special wine, which meant so much to him, the traditions of a whole county have been brought back to life. It is a skin-contact white (“brisat”) first made with the 2019 vintage, from White Grenache grown in the vineyards his father planted some fifty years ago and which he tended with such love and enthusiasm. A wine that is true to the land and to its roots, just like Miquel.
The label of Lo Carnisser captures the essence of Miquel the farmer who, with his skilled, work-worn hands, tended the land and his vines with the experience of a lifetime devoted to his passions: the vineyard and wine.
